Denis Cicu: Level 3 Business Admin Apprenticeship

"One of the highlights of my apprenticeship is the fantastic team I have the privilege of working with.
I would strongly recommend HRUC as it provides a very supportive environment and offers unique opportunities for apprentices."

Denis CicuMeet Denis...

A former student at Uxbridge College who previously studied Level 3 Electrical Installation. After completing his course, Denis was eager to find a path that combined practical experience with continued education. Rather than taking the traditional university route, Denis chose a more hands-on approach—enrolling in a Business Administration apprenticeship at HRUC (Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges). After browsing through the HRUC Vacancies website, Denis found an apprenticeship programmed perfectly matching his interests and career aspirations. Denis found the application process straightforward and the support from the HRUC team made it even easier.

Training that means something

Denis really enjoys the exceptional training he receives as a Business Admin apprentice at HRUC, which includes safeguarding training, digital skills training, and general administration training. Additionally, Denis appreciates all the networking opportunities he has participated in, as well as the unique experiences, such as being part of the interview panel for the new Managing Director of Apprenticeships role. These experiences make Denis feel valued as an apprentice.

There's no 'I' in team

One of the highlights of Denis's apprenticeship is the fantastic team he has the privilege of working with. Denis describes his colleagues as being incredibly welcoming, approachable, and supportive from day one.

The importance of a good mentor

As soon as Denis began his apprenticeship, his employer arranged weekly mentoring sessions, providing dedicated time to discuss progress, challenges, and questions with a mentor. Additionally, Denis has regular one-on-one meetings with his manager to review tasks and address any concerns. On top of this, he has monthly reviews with his tutor to help assess his progress as an apprentice, ensuring continual growth and support.

How to overcome challenges

One of Denis's biggest challenges was starting his apprenticeship mid-academic year during a busy period, with no prior experience in business administration. Initially uncertain and hesitant to ask questions, Denis gradually grew more confident with the support of his team, learning that seeking help is essential to the learning process.

Recommending an apprenticeship

Denis encourages anyone seeking an opportunity to earn while they learn to apply for an apprenticeship that aligns with their skills and interests. Denis highly recommends HRUC for its supportive environment and the unique opportunities it provides to apprentices, making it an ideal choice for those looking to grow and succeed.
